Designed and made by London's Gideon Conn
A new range of personalized art by Gideon Conn. Send us your photo and he will turn it into a kaleidoscopic design. 54 equilateral triangles form a hexagon. The photos are mirrored before printing and then they're cut glued to wooden tiles which fit in a 75cm hexagonal frame with non-reflective glass. Because the pattern is made of many pieces, it is also a puzzle. you can remove the back and take out the pieces and then you have to put them back in the right position with the pattern upside down.
The ones pictured are made from a photo of African glass beads from the artist's friend Yvette. You can have a pattern on both sides which means you have two art works to rotate.
A photo can kaleidoscoped in 4 ways - from each corner. It is always a delight to put the pattern together. The more similar the 2 sides are, the more challenging the puzzle.
These are luxury bespoke works involving 18 hand processes which require precision crafting and a lot of love
Materials: photographs, birch plywood, non reflective glass, oak, walnut
Measurements: 75cm / 29.5"
A note from the artist: The African beads are great because they're really abstract yet completely real. The beads are strung so they give a linear quality which gives form to the overall composition which is made entirely of rounded shapes.
