Made in Tel Aviv by Urban Outlines

The Nordau Hotel (left) is situated on the corners of Nahalat Binyamin and Gruzenberg Streets. The hotel was built by Architect Yehuda Magidovitch in 1925, according to the eclectic style. Eclectic architecture was extremely common in Tel Aviv in the twenties, more or less a decade before the international style ("Bauhaus") began to spread. The eclectic style was characterized by combining and merging western classical features with eastern and middle-eastern building traditions and elements. Gruzenberg Street was named after Oscar Gruzenberg (1866-1940) – a Jewish advocate, famous for evoking international interest in anti-Semitism after he managed to gain an acquittal for the Jew, Menahem Mendel Beilis, who was accused of murdering a Russian boy for ritual purposes. The street was named after Gruzenberg Immediately after the trial ended, in 1913.
